The Valley Hospital and Englewood Hospital and Medical Center: Statements about Permit Extension Act Opinion

VALLEY HOSPITAL: We are pleased that Judge Doyne reinforced the findings of the former Commissioner of the Department of Health and Senior Services, and that he agreed with our position that any future proceedings on this matter are more appropriately handled by the Appellate Division.

We continue to believe that the best interests of Bergen County residents will be served by having the strongest possible healthcare system, and a new and unnecessary hospital will only serve to weaken that system. For more than two years, we have been proud to care for thousands of patients from the Pascack Valley area, as well as offer a growing number of community health education programs and screenings.  We pledge to continue our efforts to enhance our programs and services to best meet the needs of all residents of the Pascack Valley community.

EHMC: We agree with Judge Peter E. Doyne’s ruling that HUMC must go to the state Appellate Division in Trenton to continue its proceedings and efforts regarding the Permit Extension Act.

Englewood Hospital and Medical Center continues its unwavering commitment to serve the residents of the Northern Valley, as it has for 130 years.  Our dedicated physicians, nurses and other staff members have been providing uninterrupted high quality care to surrounding communities since PVH closed, and we continue to assist local towns, expand outreach efforts and provide more healthcare services to these communities, as we have with our new ER and ambulance services.
